A group of Japanese Taiko drummers were visiting Queen’s Park High School on their trip through Europe to deliver an outstanding performance. After having watched the show, student of the Arts&Drama club together with the Japanese artists took part in a workshop directed by Allan Owens, Professor at the University of Chester. The workshop was based on the use of Metaphors in different languages and was aimed at showing the students how tropes can be understood non-verbally across different cultures.
One can definitely say that this experience was enriching for British and Japanese students alike and influenced the way they perceive the world. Thy English Academy runs similar workshops with focus on art or literature to achieve the same effects.
