In May, a new app, called “Smartify” will launch making it possible to scan paintings and other art work and get more information on the piece of art. While many museums already have apps, where visitors can find out more about the paintings in one gallery, smartly combines multiple museums. During the introduction phase, only a selected number of paintings in the most famous art galleries globally will be accessible with the app, like the Louvre in Paris or the Wallace Collection in London. Another advantage of the new app will be that it is sufficient to just scan a postcard with the picture of the art work and it will still yield the information about the painting. This app is predicted to revolutionize the way we acquire cultural education and allows a greater number of people access to cultural information.
