Many nursery schools face serious struggles due to cuts in funding. Although early years education is highly appreciated by working parents allowing them to give their young children into free care for 30 hours a week many of them might face closure soon. Across Britain, only 400 nursery schools are still open of which 67% state that they will not survive financial cuts. This would change the face of the UK sustainably. Labour MP Lucy Powell states that nursery schools are a key to social mobility. They pave the way to a bright educational career for children from various backgrounds. Nursery schools play an important role for the development of disadvantage socio-economic groups. Representatives urge to raise awareness for the difficult situation to prevent closure of a high number of facilities.
