From May onwards, the new mayor Linda Huggett of Redbridge will be officially in office. The new mayor has served as deputy mayor from 2014 to 2015. On the 19th of January, all 63 councillors voted in favor of her in Redbridge Council Hall. Linda Huggett is taking over office from Labor Cllr Gurdial Bhamra. After being tied up in allegations about her attending only half of the meetings she was supposed to attend in 2011, Miss Huggett finds herself at the peak of her political career. Back then Miss Huggett was unable to attend meeting due to a fractured leg and day time meetings. She was supported by Cllr Ian Bond, who said that poor attendance was not due to Miss Huggetts incapability to serve as counselor but due to various other circumstances.
