The “Safe school” plan is compatible with the image of catholic schools – this is the message transmitted by the Edmund Rice Education Australia (EREA), the education arm of the Christian Brothers. EREA has stated that the children’s safety and wellbeing is most important to them, and this means a life without bullying and harassment. All students have a right to be protected and have a prosperous environment to develop. The “safe and inclusive learning communities” policy was developed by EREA and surprised the world with statements like “safe and inclusive learning environments for all students, in particular for same-sex attracted and gender diverse young people”. This clearly shows that the catholic religion is ready to really include everyone.
