A recent study has revealed that art subject are not actually pushed out of the classroom. Despite claims that the English Baccalaureate favors scientific subjects, research has shown that as many students as 4 years ago are taking arts subjects at GCSE. Moreover, it has also been shown that those who take arts exams at GCSE scor overall higher. The report was published by New Schools Network. The head and former journalist Toby Young states that the results are proofing what they had already know: Schools focusing on core skills and arts show the best overall performance. One of the most dangerous consequences of the misleading perception of arts being disfavored in education is the fact that more and more people refrain from getting involved in the arts. This leads to fewer organizations focused on arts in particular.
