Since 2005, the private education sector has experience greater growth than the public education sector in Africa. This holds for Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education except for Kindergarten. One in four children is enrolled in a private school that is either corporate, not-for-profit or charitable. Many of these schools are faith-based or focus on technology. They are aimed at giving children better chances in life. Since these private schools offer well-developed study programs compared to their public counterparts, middle-class parents chose to give their children the best education they can afford.
Nevertheless, 30 million Primary school aged children still do not have access to any sort of education. This should be the primary focus of development.
