In case the Stormont parties do not reach an agreement, schools in Northern Ireland dread further cuts to the alright tightly squeezed education system. A 2.5% cut would mean a loss of 50 million pounds for the education system. The money that would be missing would mainly affect school staff and school transport. Since it is impossible to make any cuts in this area, the effects will be devastating. Principles say they are simply unable to run their schools with fewer teachers. Increasing class sizes and squeezing more pupils into one class is also no option, since the classroom would soon become too small. The clear message that teachers receive is a feeling of “our students are simply not worth investing money in”.
