450 years ago John Shakespeare, the father of William Shakespeare war ordered to overpaint medieval painting by Henry VIII. Scientists, who have been working on restoring the church situated in Stratford-Upon-Avon discovered these art works last week. Henry VIII was known for abandoning religion from society and he was trying to destroy all art related to religion. However, the colourful murals were not destroyed but overpainted with limewash by John Shakespeare.
In our eyes, all art should be appreciated and tolerated independent from the artist’s background, ethnicity or belief. Art is a way to express our views about the world and everyone should be entitled to draw or build whatever they feel they want to let the world know.
